Most config files, like `/etc/nf` have exactly the same contents in each distribution, and I have a hard time trying to understand what is going on. The `/etc/modprobe.d/` is stacked with config files on the other distributions (mostly blacklisting stuff), but nothing related with the ath9k driver. It seems like only Debian and direct derivatives would be impacted by the problem on my machine. (currently : Triple Boot Debian Sid XFCE / Xubuntu 21.10 XFCE / Fedora 35 XFCE) I am now running a shiny new 5.16 kernel.Īs I was running out of troubleshooting ideas, I installed other distributions aside to check if my hardware is faulty, or if they would include specific configuration or hint for a fix. I wondered if my bug would be fixed in a recent kernel, so I decided to take a turn for the worse and upgraded to Sid. I tried to compile a backported driver, as described here : I’ve found this article, about replacing network-manager with `wicd` …īut `wicd` is not maintained anymore and has been kicked out of the debian repos. I’ve seen a lot of forum posts about tweaking the params of `/etc/modprobe.d/nf`, especially the `nohwcrypt=1` param.

Still having the wifi bug, but I could at least finish the installation.Īnyway, now I don’t think it could be a proprietary firmware issue, as the `ath9k` driver is included in the kernel I tried another install, this time the dirty way with the non-free XFCE live iso (debian-live-11.2.0-amd64-xfce+nonfree.iso). I installed debian using the default iso (debian-11.2.0-amd64-netinst.iso).Īs I ran into the problem during the installation (unable to download necessary packages), I admitted that even if I was able to connect, maybe I was needing something from the non-free repos. Nd for the record installing the latest drivers or pressing the f12 wireless key does not help.

It seems that the problem only occurs when i install the latest iso of windows 10. Installed the driver and my wifi was working like a charm with windows 8.1 and also with windows 7. But strange thing is i then installed windows 8.1 from my dvd. I've tried all the solutions from googling available. But for god knows what reason i just cant f*cking turn the wifi on. The bluetooth turns on and also connects. But right from then my wifi has stopped working. So i again downloaded another iso 64bit for my laptop. My pc got infected with virus so i had to clean install the os again. It was working fine with the version before threshold 2 and also with the version of threshold 2 right after it was released. Same card was not available so they replaced it with qualcomm atheros qca9565 card.

It came with ralink 32xx wifi+bluetooth card. The official model number for my laptop is hp14-r029tx. Updating the driver does not help, no registry edit, no nothing solves the ****ing problem.

This did not happen when i downloaded the iso right after threshold 2 was released nd the update was integrated in that iso. It just switches the airplane mode on and off. The wireless switch on my hp laptop keyboard is f12 and that does not work. I cannot enable wifi by clicking the wifi tile in action center. My router nd card both supports wpa-psk and also wpa2-psk. "What OS did you formerly use?' If it was Windows 7 then it's possible the router does not support WPA2-PSK while Windows 10, like Windows 8 and 8.1 no longer supports WPA-PSK.Ĭheck your router Advanced Wireless Setup page.I know how routers and their systems work. Also please note this comment which you can check as regards your equipment, and which I quote but cannot attribute unfortunately: (italics mine as you clean installed)
